All faculty, staff and students are invited to join the Global Insights Opening Program for 2022-23, featuring Magali Ferrer, Fulbright Scholar and Spanish 101 Graduate Teaching Assistant. She will present on her country of origin, Argentina, Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at 11:30 a.m. in the Rose Room, Brennan 509. Registration is mandatory. Click here to join.

“Argentina is located at the southern end of the (South) American continent,” Ferrer said. “Its capital is Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires. There is a population of approximately 45,801,000 and the official currency is the peso. The name of the country refers to the richness of the terroir. What defines the country is its great diversity in terms of people, as well as its geography. There are limitless activities, from glacier tours to scenic hikes to breathtaking natural wonders.”

Ferrer said Argentina’s many unique offerings are recognized internationally. “Iguazú Falls…was recently voted one of the New Seven Wonders of Nature.”

Visitors will enjoy Argentina because the people are friendly and helpful, and the way of life is free from rules. Free health care and education for all are available to citizens and visitors.

Argentinian culture is very family-oriented. “Family and friends come together to celebrate everything that happens, even the little things.” Ferrer said because of the family-centric culture “You will never, ever be alone.”

Ferrer’s talk will feature photos of Argentina’s natural wonders, food, folklore, music and dance.
