Chanhassen dinner theater to host JazzMN for its annual holiday concert

The renowned JazzMN Orchestra is celebrating its full return to the main stage of the Chanhassen Dinner Theaters (CDT) with its popular jazzy holiday concert, Home for the Holiday, on Monday, December 13.

Take a welcome break from the stress and experience the welcome swing of the season with a variety of exciting holiday-themed music. The fully professional JazzMN orchestra will perform some big holiday hits, including recognizable arrangements for Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald, while also including rare goodies from Count Basie, Duke Ellington and new versions of some old favorites like Silent Night, Jingle Bells and What Child Is It.

Lila Ammons, internationally renowned guest singer on tour, joins the orchestra. She has a meaning with standards, blues and Brazilian music and an approach that evokes the pop / jazz stars of the 50s. She also comes from a solid pedigree. His grandfather was the esteemed pianist Albert Ammons, and his uncle was the famous tenor saxophonist, Gene Ammons. Originally from Chicago, Ammons moved to the Twin Cities to be close to his family. Beginning her vocal career in operas and concert halls, she then returned to her jazz roots and classical blues tradition. In recent years, she has been critically acclaimed and toured in Europe and Brazil singing classic blues with German pianist Axel Zwingenberger, and as a featured singer with the ABC & D Boogie Woogie Quartet with Zwingenberger and Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts. She has also toured as a jazz soloist in England, Spain and Ireland. For the past three years, Ammons has mainly stayed in the United States to focus on her jazz ensemble, the Lila Ammons Jazz Group. Her ensembles perform regularly in her home port in the Twin Cities and across Minnesota. Through recordings and live performances, Ammons continues to attract new audiences with his nuanced vocal jazz narratives, a respect for jazz idioms, and an unpredictability that delights.

This annual holiday tradition is always popular because it brings joy to celebrating the holiday season. Plus, you’ll be warmly greeted with a blazing fire and an amazing array of festive decorations at Chanhassen Dinner Theaters, your home for holiday entertainment this season.

Tickets are $ 40 for the concert only. Guests can add dinner for an additional $ 18 per person. Tickets can be purchased online at or through the Chanhassen Dinner Theaters box office at 952-934-1525. Sit-down dinner at 5.30 p.m. start of the concert at 7:30 p.m.
