A $ 6 Million Estate in Spain’s Wine Country Could Be Your Favorite Ground

Grapes on the vine outside the back door. Less trips to the wine store. Your own private label.

This contemporary hacienda is located in La Melonera winery in the province of Malaga, Spain.

Located in a meadow near Rondo, the 200-hectare (nearly 500-acre) Wine and Country Club development contains 30 estate homes. Each has its own vineyard of 5 to 7 hectares, or approximately 7 to 12 acres.

The grapes grown are traditional grape varieties including La Melonera or Blasco, originating in this part of the Serranía de Ronda mountain range. The owners not only have personalized labels, but also a plentiful supply of personalized red and white wines.

The hacienda was designed by architect Marcos Sainz, whose residential work is evident in the neighboring Marbella suburb. His designs often blend modern elements with rustic Andalusian patterns, much like this one.

The villa’s minimalist flat-roofed core incorporates mature trees and exhibition space for statuary in its block design. A wide footbridge leads up to the white-walled portico which houses the front door.

In contrast, the wings of the house have pitched tiled roofs supported by thick beams for a look that blends into the surroundings.

Large bay windows bring light into the two main living areas. The interior space of 1,172 square meters, or approximately 12,600 square feet, includes a formal dining room and four bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms. The master bedroom has a sauna and a walk-in closet.

The vaulted-ceiling kitchen includes a breakfast room and a central island with a hob. A glass-enclosed wine storage area can accommodate hundreds of bottles.

Other amenities include patios for alfresco dining and lounging, an elevator, a home automation system and underfloor heating.

A paved path leads to the swimming pool, where a terrace offers views of the surrounding countryside.

Holm oaks and olive groves are scattered throughout the enclave of classic and contemporary homes. Community fees cover agricultural expenses, maintenance, bottling processes and administration.

José Ribes Bas d’Inmobiliaria Rimontgo is the listing agent for the property, which is listed furnished at € 4.95 million, or approximately US $ 5.88 million.

Rondo is less than an hour from the seaside resort of Marbella and less than a two hour drive from the British territory of Gibraltar. Malaga-Costa del Sol International Airport is 61 kilometers, or 38 miles.
